New Year Update

Well, January 2009 is now history...I am left trying to catch my breath at the pace with which the whole month went by.

I am dreading that February will be just as hectic. Is it me or do people really have more things to do as they grow older? (sigh...)

At least this Sunday is not a busy one, the Australian Open Men's Single Final is just about to start in a few minutes and the commentators are doing their customary summary of the matches that were played by both finalists - Federer and Nadal...for tennis fans this is a dream final. The two dominant players over the last several years, with almost opposite playing styles...physical play vs. finesse.

I am personally rooting for Federer. If he wins, he will equal Pete Sampras' record of 14 grand slam finals.

You gotta admire professional athletes whatever the sport. The hectic season schedule, the discipline required to play at such a high level is incredible.

I wonder how long I would last under those conditions, just thinking about it is already making me realize that I am blessed, am I glad I don't have to do that.

You really have to love what you are doing to be able to go through such a gruelling schedule and to sacrifice so much of your own time to succeed in it.

But wait a minute, isn't that why I am doing what I'm doing? Don't get me wrong, I love what I do and I wouldn't trade anything in the world for it.

But if I don't spend time with family and God, to be reminded who I am working hard for, then it does become tough.

Thank you Lord for this Sunday. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a good steward for Your Glory, thank you for giving me time to spend with my family and to be reminded that I work because I love.
