I am an entrepreneur by heart.
Some of my earliest and most fond memories were those of buying and selling "stuff" in school as early as Grade 1.
People can see how my eyes light up with excitement just by the smallest sign of an opportunity to trade, negotiate and make a sale. You could say that this was my God given talent - that of finding and taking advantage of opportunities.
Given the infinite number of opportunities out there though, in the past several years, I have tried my best to pursue things that are not just profitable, but also socially responsible.
I have come to realize that my talent can be used in addressing social problems - with the environment in particular.
Who could have imagined that you could help make the world become a better place and make a profit at the same time?
I hope that people are able to think about business opportunities through this lens, that you can help people as well as help yourself.
If you are interested in learning more about this, then I suggest that you visit ashoka.org. It contains a wealth of information and provides examples and people who have looked at solving social problems through entrepreneurship.
